Bevel pinions for differentials

These pinions are used on all automobiles for gearbox differentials (front wheel drive) or axles (rear-wheel drive).

Depending on the component module, either cold forging or warm forging may be used.

The technological and economic benefits of forging can be found in the highly competitive near net shape blanks that are obtained thanks to:

  • the bevel gearing achieved directly by forging
  • the precision of the blank part which allows rationalisation of the finishing stages
  • the significant improvement in the mechanical performance of the pinions that enables the module to be decreased with the same torque.

Recommended material grades: the complete range of case-hardened or carbonitrided steels. Because we rigorously test the operational performance of these products (test bench), GÉVELOT EXTRUSION can provide materials that offer the best possible compromise between performance and price.

Methods of production:

  • Forge: using single station and multistation cold or warm, vertical presses
  • Finishing: soft machining, broaching, batch heat treatment, lapping, hard machining
